Capsules – A standard form of delivery is the oral capsule. Compounding pharmacies can adjust capsule color or powder color to easily distinguish them from other medications. Creams – Transdermal methods of delivery are widely used to allow absorption of medicine directly through the skin. • Lipoderm – delivery through liposomal technology seems to allow the greatest absorption into the skin. It is the newest technology on the market today and MedQuest has perfected this base to allow maximum absorption.
• ROH – An alcohol base, the ROH cream is a thinner more clear consistency preferred by men for its easy application and quick drying.
• Gel - The gel is a water based formulation slightly off white in color and a little bit stickier in its application. This base works well for both men and women.
• Vanishing Cream - This base very white and creamy in texture. It is preferred by women for its more silky texture.

Triturates – Triturates are a popular form used to keep drugs in the mouth when local action is needed. They are generally placed under the tongue and allowed to dissolve for sublingual delivery, which allows the medication to enter the bloodstream quickly and easily. Triturates can be flavored and sweetened to help improve the bitterness of some medications.

Rapid Dissolve Tablets – Rapid dissolve tablets (RDT’s) are the newest technology in dissolvable tablets. They are larger in size meaning they can hold a larger amount of active ingredient. They are designed to dissolve on the tongue and within a very short period of time (under 30 seconds). They are also in a variety of flavors.

Unique Delivery Systems – As many patients often have a difficult time taking medicine, a number of dosage forms can be custom-prepared for easier ingestions. Many medications can be taken through a flavored lollipop or a frozen Popsicle. Others can be taken as chewable “gummy” treats. Infants especially benefit from alternate delivery devices such as pacifiers or baby bottles which are wonderful for dispensing medicine easily and accurately

Troches – Troches are larger than triturates and are typically dissolved between the gum and cheek. They come in a variety of flavors to please most patients.
